A safe place where you can take refuge immediately. Where women experiencing sexual or domestic violence can close the door, breathe, and start over.

We have just opened such a place. The new crisis apartment is ready to provide temporary shelter to women who find themselves in danger or in a difficult life situation.

We are here for those who:

  • need to quickly get out of a dangerous or unbearable environment in connection with domestic or sexual violence,
  • have nowhere to return to after experiencing violence,
  • need to stabilize themselves mentally.

What you will find here

  • The new crisis apartment offers a safe and peaceful environment where you can rest for a while, get your bearings, and think about your next steps.
  • The support also includes other professional services provided by the PORT center: crisis assistance, health services, legal and social counseling, and psychotherapy.
  • The apartment, with a capacity of seven beds, now also accommodates women with children.
  • Each woman (a woman with up to 4 children) has her own room. The apartment can accommodate a maximum of 3 women and 4 children at a time.
  • The service can be used for up to 7 days.
  • The apartment is equipped with basic amenities, and the kitchen and bathroom facilities are shared.

If you need emergency accommodation, call our 24/7 hotline at 608 222 277 at any time.

Emergency apartment as a response to the lack of residential services for victims of violence

By opening a new crisis apartment, we are responding to the lack of residential services for women experiencing violence. A safe place and sensitive professional support are key to helping women escape violent relationships or stabilize after experiencing violence and find their way back to a full life. The new crisis apartment complements the services of the PORT center, where we are changing the way of helping victims and survivors of sexual and domestic violence: comprehensively, professionally, yet sensitively and with understanding.

Acknowledgements

The creation of the new crisis apartment would not have been possible without the support of the public and our corporate and institutional partners. We would like to thank all the donors who contributed to the renovation of the apartment in our fundraising campaign. A big thank you also goes to our corporate partners, who have been helping us for a long time to create a safe environment for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Special thanks go to IKEA for the interior design, complete furnishing of the apartment, including the kitchen, and above all for their personal commitment and volunteer work—from assembling furniture to fine-tuning the design down to the last detail. We would also like to thank our institutional partners for their long-term support of PORT's services: the Prague City Hall and the Prague 6 district.
