Anyone who becomes a victim of crime should be assured that they will receive the help they need in their situation – sensitive, professional, accessible, and tailored to their needs.
To ensure that such support is not a matter of chance but a functioning system, on December 11, 2025, we signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the VICTIMA association and the Ministry of Justice. proFem is a member organization of the VICTIMA association, and our director, Jitka Poláková, is currently its chairwoman.
The aim of the memorandum: a stronger and better quality system of support for victims of crime.
The aim of the memorandum is to strengthen and further develop the system of assistance to victims of crime so that it is based on the real experiences of victims and the experts who work with them in direct care. The signing of the memorandum is also a clear signal that the issue of victim support is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Justice and that the state is interested in its long-term and conceptual development.
The memorandum also confirms the position of the VICTIMA association as a respected professional partner of the Ministry of Justice. The organizations associated in it bring a deep understanding of the needs of victims of crime and experience from their daily work, which can be reflected in cooperation with the ministry in measures, concepts, strategies, and legislative changes in the area of victim support.
Shared commitment to accessible and compassionate care
The signed memorandum represents a shared commitment by the cooperating parties, particularly in the following areas:
- improving victims' access to justice,
- preventing secondary victimization,
- basing the support system on relevant and verified data,
- cooperating on conceptual materials, strategies, and legislation,
- and strengthening the quality and standardization of services provided to victims of crime in the long term.
VICTIMA: ensuring that victims' voices are heard in the development of systemic measures
The VICTIMA association brings together organizations that have long been systematically involved in helping victims of crime and contribute their many years of practical experience in the field to public and professional debate. The members of the association are: proFem, Acorus, Children's Crisis Center, In IUSTITIA, ROZKOŠ bez RIZIKA, Persefona, and THEiA – Crisis Center.
The signing of the memorandum represents an important milestone in the development of cooperation between the state administration and specialized non-profit organizations and creates a framework for further shared work on improving the system of assistance to victims of crime in the Czech Republic.
